Volunteers are a crucial part of sport, with sport and clubs depending on them to operate effectively. Stockport is lucky to boast a large number of active volunteers across a wide range of sports, undertaking a variety of roles.
The Target Sports Volunteering Inclusion Project in Sport (VIP) aims to identify active volunteers and recognise their achievements and commitment, with the Annual Sports Awards forming part of this recognition. The VIP project also aims to support local volunteers and the clubs with whom they are attached to, with the Target Sports Development Team providing information and advice, where appropriate.
We are always looking for new volunteers and our project seeks to provide a wider range of opportunities for new and existing volunteers to become involved with. Opportunities range from club placements in the volunteers chosen sport, to multi sport holiday camps and community activities and events where a mixture of structured and ad hoc sporting activities are delivered.
If you are interested in volunteering please complete the Volunteer Information Sheet. Once you have submitted the form an informal induction meeting can be arranged in order to find an appropriate opportunity to suit you.
The project also supports volunteers by helping individuals to develop a personal portfolio, where all your volunteering experience, skills and qualifications can be collated, which may aid you for future interviews and opportunities.
