Swim Stockport
Swim Stockport is the swimming programme of the Stockport Sports Trust. The overall aim of the scheme is to present a unified programme across the Borough, which includes basic skills in all disciplines of the sport giving swimmers the knowledge and experience which will allow them to take part in a variety of aquatic sports and/or take part in the sport to a higher level.
The scheme is easily identified by swimmers, parents/guardians, teachers and coaches throughout Stockport and the first two levels form the curriculum programme for Stockport schools’ swimming. The scheme is recognised as one of the best swimming instruction schemes in the country and is promoted by the governing body of the sport, the Amateur Swimming Association, as a model of good practice.

Swim Stockport has been accredited by the ASA as a quality assured swimming programme, being the first multi-site scheme in Britain to achieve the prestigious Aquamark award to Premier Status so you can be assured of a high standard. The swim scheme is monitored and reviewed regularly, and recognises small steps and provides rewards and incentives which swimmers, parents and teachers all need.
Swim Stockport is for everyone. From babies to adults, all levels of ability can enjoy the programme, from the non-swimmer right through to the Olympic hopeful. Delivered by a strong and creative team, all Swim Stockport staff hold Amateur Swimming Association qualifications or equivalent, from the Assistant Teacher right through to Coach and are involved in regular service training. The teachers are trained to deal with all levels of ability from the most timid to those who are more confident and able. There is a comprehensive scheme for adults too, which takes into account the fact that you may not be as flexible as the younger swimmers on the scheme. Indeed the scheme recognises the years of fear and the inability of some adults to achieve some aspects of swimming due to medical restrictions.
