Our external training provider is Trafford College which provides a fantastic service and a wide range of courses. We work closely to ensure that every training opportunity available is accessible to staff.
The PARiS scheme is a health initiative run as a joint partnership between Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, Stockport Primary Care Trust (PCT) and Stockport Sports Trust. It offers a unique and innovative approach to improving the health of Stockport residents by offering medical professionals the opportunity to 'prescribe' physical activity as an alternative to pharmacology and is seen as an intervention for a broad range of moderate medical conditions such as obesity, diabetes, cardio-vascular disease and depression. The scheme offers participants supervised and subsidised physical activity opportunities for up to 52 weeks, with encouraged reviews throughout that time.
